Hi

I make a private forum with this permission that one can see his own post
edit or delete it.
A 1 to 1 private forum that can be visible to a registerd user and me as admin.

This is possible and I am running it.

so each user can only see his own post and I reply and he sees my reply.

Problem.
I want when I make a thread it is visible to all users
because I am an admin.

The private forum that you are running, it isn't possible that you have it working where you can see the member's threads and he can see yours and nobody else's.
You must have it set where you can see everybody's, but they can only see their own... not even yours.

For anybody to see anything of yours in that section with the permissions you have set, you have to create an announcement.
To do this, while inside the forum, viewing the threadlist:
Forum Tools -> Post new announcement.

Although, members cannot reply to announcements.

No you are wrong.
They can see my reply to the thread they made:rolleyes:

Try it

They just can see a thread that I start:)

So basically a guy asks a question and I answer that guy
we both see, others can't see. it is a private forum

It sounds like you have installed a hack or plugin to allow that. vBulletin does not work that way. You will probably not get support or answers here. You need to go to the vbulletin.org website and ask there.

no hack this is vbulletin's default permission:)

Then you haven't explained it correctly, because - just like Dennis said - vBulletin does not work that way.

Its more than possible to setup so a user can start a thread, and their usergroup permissions onlyu allow them to view their own threads. And other usgroups can see all threads and their replys.

The permission system allows for what you want.

It would take some serious screwing around with the permissions then, because I cannot imagine being able to make that happen.

Nope. Pretty easy actually.

You edit the permissions for a forum and set iot so the registered usergroup (in my case) can view the forums, view threads, view its content, but not threads by others.

Can View Forum Yes
Can View Thread Content Yes
Can View Others' Threads No

similiar permissions should be applied to all other usergroups who you do not want to be able to see others threads

Ok now that every body agree this is possible. I need this which does not seem possible. As an Admin when I create a thread even thouth the permissions does not allow users to view others' thread (which includes me) they should be able to view my announcment thread. Just announcement.

Might be easier to use a notice or some html in that forum specificly, though I believe other users should be able to see announcements, as they are not treated like a normal thread.
