I really do need your help - and trust me, I have read the messages here. They end up confusing me even more. In the beginning I manage to choose hostrocket, and now I am not that sure that it would be best for me.

To be more specific, since 4 month I want to have a forum anime. I am lawyer, but I am very childish, I love to write and publish stories and I have a lot of friends that love anime (Japanese cartoons)

Everything was looking fine, I found Servage, I paid for a 14 month subscription, then I discovered I didn't like any of the free softwares for forums, and I searched more. I found vBulletin, and I asked Servage if they run vBulletin in appropriate conditions.

As you may expect, they said "of course we do". I bought the soft - and I love it - and I made the site and the forum. The "surprise" is that my forum is more down than up, I receive tons of errors and when I try to make them solve the damn situation they keep on saying that the forum is looking stable and fine. Right, and I couldn't even invite ppl on it because of the huge number of errors (around 200 daily).

Now, hostrocket specifies something about the name of domain that can be registered / used there. Mine is www.anime-empire.ro and I don't know if I can transfer it.

Also, I have no clue about linux, and they have linux servers. Do I have to use Linux to run my forum?

The last problem would be the move itself, my database has 550 mega, and I don't know how should I do to transfer everything.

I tried to submit a ticket with them and I received no answer for an entire week.

As for what I understand by good host, I am interested to have more than 50 Giga space on server, to have unlimited bandwich, reasonable traffic limits (I expect to have around 2-3.000 members in the next year), around 100 e-mails, 10-15 databases, possibility to have at least 3 sub domains, and, more than anything else, to be more UP than DOWN and to have speed, I am dying with servage.

I would be more than grateful if you could help me, I have worked a lot at this forum and those last weeks have been an agony for me with all these persistent errors.

I hope you've read my post here: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=275762 to understand that there is no such thing as unlimited bandwidth. Do you have a budget per month?

What kind of errors, any example?

You can transfer any domain you want.

Yes, you can use linux for your forum.

Read official documentation of vBulletin here: http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/main/moving_servers

You should look for very good shared hosting or any VPS one I think. You can look at www.webhostingtalk.com (http://www.webhostingtalk.com):)

Thank you very much for the answers.

The type of error is:

Database error in vBulletin :

Invalid SQL:

I have around 10.000 errors like than per month, and the Servage's support team still pretend the forum is stable... Drives me crazy.

I was very interested to use hostrocket, I heard very good things about them. The problem is I don't know linux and if I will have to install Linux instead of Windows I would actually have a problem.

I don't have enough money to afford dedicated server. I can spend around 10 dollars / month (because I prefer to pay many months in advance than have this problem every month.)

I wrote to host rocket and this is the answer:

Our shared servers due come with SSH access, however must of our utilities are web
based and not much knowledge of linux is needed (unless you want a dedicated
server).

Each shared hosting account is monitored for resource usage. As far as throughput
each account is limited to 1MB/s upstream.

I still didn't understand if I have to have Linux on my computer and if that 1 Mega/s upstream would be enough for a forum of around 1500 members (in the future, now there are less than 500).

I would really be very happy to use hostrocket, and I really need to move it soon. I lost many members. I had 100 posts / day and now I have less than 20.

What should I do now, the Linux is my major problem... I don't want to be forced to start using another operating sistem. I cannot access or use my account / forum / ftp on hostrocket from Windows?
Thank you very much again.

I second this. By the time you figure out this fact, it's too late...and you will be already out to search for a new host again. :o
