How do you get the "lightbox" thing to work, in other terms, when you click on an attached image the background goes dark and a white box comes up with the image.

In the vbulletin settings go to message attachment options and there is a setting there called Use Image Lightbox. Change it to yes, clicked. Well that is my setting anyhow. Hope this helps.
