prefix won't show in forumdisplay

all my templates are up to date and i can select a prefix on new thread, but they don't show anywhere in forumdisplay or showthread

Did you try it with the default style?

And just to clarify, the prefix won't show when viewing the thread itself (showthread), will always show on the list of threads (forumdisplay), and can optionally be shown on the forum index in the last post column (via a setting in Forum Listings Display Options).
