Hi All,
I am about to install latest version - vBulletin 3.7.0 and then found out that some users who did not have 'spam' problems with 3.6.10 seems to be having spam problems now after upgraded to 3.7.0.

Mine is a fresh installation and I may not really need so many new features of 3.7.0.

But 'security' & 'no spam registrations' are important for me, as my board will be high activity board.

What do you suggest for me to install ? vBulletin 3.7.0 or vBulletin 3.6.10 ?

Any spam problems solved in vBulletin 3.7.1 (Latest patch) ?

Note: I can understand that there is no way to stop the manual registration spam. But I don't want any automatic spam registrations or posts by bots.

I suggest 3.7.0.

There is no issues regarding spam registrations as long as you use a unique Question and Answer verification.

The captcha system appears to no longer work to prevent spammers. Not a big deal everyone hated the captcha system anyway because it is very difficult to use.

Use 3.7.1 and get an akismet key to use for automatically filtering spam posts. It does an almost 100% perfect job for me.

Should I install vB 3.7.1 ?

By the way, below 2 threads made me to think about these spam registrations.

Most of them clearly state that they did not have these spam problems in vB 3.6.8.
They also stated that Q&A system is also unable to stop these spam registrations.

If you don't mind, can you please explain a bit where will I get this akismet key and how I use it ?
I am a bit new to these things.

Oh, and spammers often buy human-registered accounts for a couple of cents apiece, then let a bot loose on them.
