Unmanaged you might be responsible for upgrades, backups and whatever else is necessary. Some people like to be in control of everything a.nd managed is better for them

Managed servers are taken care of by someone else.

I would recommend you to go with a managed VPS where you wont need to pay anything for technical assistance. If are not aware of technical issues, managed VPS is highly recommended :)
