Hello,

Apologies, as I don't rightly know where the best place to ask this is.

One of the companies I am a contractor for recently had to recreate their web site from scratch. Because of some of the nuances of VB, they could not ever get the boards integrated with the rest of the site properly.

The result is that we've had to resort to downgrading to a version of punBB boards to integrate into the site.

It's... Not pretty. The users are pretty pissed, the mod and admin tools are total crap, it's... Not good.

I'm exploring options. I had once read/heard that you guys can and will help integrate the boards into an existing web site and see to it that it becomes compatible with existing programs.

I presume there are fees and such, but I wanted to explore this option. Where do I go and who do I talk to to find out more?

We could use an outside source to try to integrate the boards, but honestly that... I've seen people do that and it doesn't work very well. I'd rather you guys did it. Point me towards the place/person I can find out more about this with, if you please.

Integrating vBulletin with a non-vB member system would require a rather extensive modification of the code. Of course, we cannot provide official support for code modifications. What most people do is modify their current system to use the vB member system.

Either way the place for help with this would be over at the mod site: http://www.vbulletin.org

Awww... There's no way to bribe you guys for a custom install?

The thing is I'd need it to be supported by you guys if we had any problems in order to convince my peers that we should do it - they don't want a one time fix that leaves them screwed if something goes wrong.

There's no way to contract for a custom install "officially?"

No, there isn't. Sorry.

You can try posting in the 'Requests for Paid Services' forum at vbulletin.org for help with this.

Thanks, Steve.

That's very disappointing. But I appreciate the honest and forth-right answers.

I'm afraid I'm spoiled now, and going from VB to PunBB on a major web site is just... It makes my skin crawl.

Cheers.
