View Full Version : Couple of questions

I've tried the demo version of the software and must say I like it better than PHPBB3 that I'm running now.

Also, I got to play with a friends forum that is running VB and the mods are an absolute breeze!! I just couldn't believe the difference.

Had a couple of questions though.

1. Can I sell/transfer the license if things don't pan out with my forum?

2. Regarding styles, with the different mods and styles out there will a particular mod work with all styles? For example, if I were to install the "members that have visited" mod and I were to upload Styles A, B and C will the mod be compatible with all three styles? The software that robust? Or will I have to do coding to get it to work with each style?

3. Ads/Sponsors, is this forum intro page done with VB? (I wouldn't think so but it doesn't hurt to ask)

http://www.f150online.com/

This is the webpage so far

http://www.southwestdrags.com/index2.htm

Would like to consolidate with something like f150online i.e. news, adds, vids etc.

4. Also, I would like to setup the mods and styles first and get that going before I transfer the PHPBB stuff over. I would setup the VB stuff in a different directory and then implement. Are there any issues if I were to just rename the the new directory to the existing directly once the setup is complete?

1. The policy states:

Jelsoft may, in its discretion, allow you to transfer your license to another party, providing the license:
- has not already been transferred in the previous 12 months; and
- was purchased more than 3 months in the past.
-is an active owned license
*Please note, leased licenses are not eligible for transfer

You can read this policy under the license agreement here:

http://www.vbulletin.com/order/license_agreement.php

2. That depends on the Mods and the Styles. You will likely have to maje the same changes to each style.

3. That is not a vB page. Looks custom.

4. No, that should work fine.

I downloaded and ran the script from your site.

I can get the host to change the PHP upgrade but what about the other failures?

You will need to have a valid database setup with a valid db user that has access to that database.

Ok, I messed up by not inputing the server host address in the "MySQL server host address" field.

Ran it again.

Looks like everything passed, but according to your recommendations PHP 5.2.5 is preferred correct?

vB will run fine with this server.
