I want to create a forum utilizing VB. I am completely technologically challenged. LOL I need to know if I have to secure a host prior to purchasing vbulletin or if it works the other way around. I'm sure that is probably the dumbest question that someone will ask here today but there you have it.

I just don't know which comes first. LOL

You will need a hosting provider in order to install vBulletin on it. It wouldn't matter if you get vBulletin first, or the host first; but you will not be able to start your forum until you have both.

Best comparison I can think of is:
I want to listen to a song on my car's CD player.
Should I buy the song I really like off of iTunes first, or should I buy a blank CD first?

Answer? doesn't really matter which I buy first, but I'd need both before I can listen to it on my car's CD player ;)

I recommend that you secure hosting and a domain name before you purchase vBulletin. You can't install the software without them. With most hosting providers it only takes a few minutes to get setup and running.
