Sorry, we do not have an importer for 'forumotion'. In fact I've never even heard of that system. I'm afraid you would need to find someone to program an import script for you.

Isnīt that just phpbb ? You can convert that - no problem, but you need the database.

Just having a look at forumotion's site, and it appears that you are unable to get hold of the database.

It says "There is no way to get access to the database or the back ups."

Sorry, but I don't think it is possible to transfer, mainly because it is a free forum company. Applogies.

Oh man, that sucks - it should be possible, at least for a fee or something.

Maybe, you will have to look into whether they will give you the database for a fee. I doubt they will though... Sorry.

Made a search at their forum, it seems the database is not available even if you offer them money ??? Very strange service, or lack of it:

Yet another one of these parasites that hold onto your forum data. I strongly discourage people use any free forum "hosting" services who will refuse to give you your data later on.

Parasitic forum hosting companies who refuse to let you "buy out" your forum data:
ProBoards
MyFreeForum
Forumotion
EZBoard
Yuku
Forumlandia

As long as you follow the documentation, and read it before you buy it, it will be relatively smooth and easy.

Remember to make sure about your server complying with PHP 4/5 and MySQL 5 before buying. :)

Only good free hosting I have seen is: www.freeforums.org

I started out with them, and they're very helpful.

vBulletin requires a web server that includes PHP (minimum version 4.3.3) and MySQL (minimum 4.0.16) installed. As long as you choose a server/host that meets these requirements you will be able to install and run the software.

What host are you using?

To find a good vB host you can check out the vB hosting forums at http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=11. You can also ask at http://www.webhostingtalk.com for user experiences.

site5.org is pretty good as well. At least they were whenever I was using shared hosting.
