Hi:

Here's the thing.
Im building a new forum in phpbb3 and wondering if it works, not in the software part, but in the users part.

I want to know if the forum works out and gives me any money so I can justify buying you guys a licence but here's the tricky question:

Once I build it up with phpbb3 and have it running like 6 months or so, can I SIMPLY (automatic) migrate from phpbb3 to the latest version of vBulletin?
If so, is there any command you'll give me when I buy your product o do I have to make a reaserch on my own?

I'll be looking forward dor your answer.

Thanks

When you have a valid license, you can download ImpEx (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/impex), the vBulletin Import System. You can see what can be imported from phpBB 3 here (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/impex_phpBB3). Note that passwords cannot be imported, simply because phpBB uses a different password hash algorithm.

Perfect!
So everything can be imported but the passwords.

Thanks!

Just wondering, but how would users get their passwords? Would they all have to do forgot password?

If you haven't yet, read: http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/main/impex_passwords.
If you import from a system where the passwords can not be imported or there was an error importing the passwords you can use the email all users and send them the link to your boards password reset page when you are ready to go live.
Hello $username,

We have recently moved our forum to vBulletin, part of moving to this amazing software is that you are required to reset your password, if you follow this link and enter your email address you will be emailed directions to resetting your password.
