View Full Version : Editing Usergroup Creates New Usergroup

Just upgraded to Gold from RC2.

Went to edit usergroup permissions, clicked update, said it had been updated. However when it re-directed me back to the usergroups page, instead of updating that usergroup, it created a duplicate usergroup with the exact same name and permissions.

Any idea what might cause this and how to fix this?

I don't have this problem on my 3.7 test forum.

It sounds like you might have incorrectly gone to:

Admin CP -> Usergroups -> Add New Usergroup

...and used the Create Usergroup Based off of Usergroup menu to fill in all of the fields with the values from an existing group, but you were actually creating a new group.

The correct place to edit a group is in your:

Admin CP -> Usergroups -> Usergroup Manager -> Edit Usergroup

Here are the steps I followed

AdminCP >>>> Usergroups >>>> Usergroup Management >>> Edit Usergroup >>>> Go >>>> Changed User Title Mark Up (or anything else for that matter) >>>> Update

Saved Usergroup Administrators Successfully

But instead of the usergroup being updated it is creating a new usergroup called Administrators

Did not have this issue with any of the beta's noticed it in RC2 (waited for Gold to be released before I upgraded anymore) a couple of days before Gold was released as I hadn't really needed to change anything. Upgraded to Gold yesterday and it is still doing it.

I don't know what else it could be. Try disabling your plugins:

Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> Plugin/Hook System

Also run a file check to look for customized files:

Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

If you continue to have problems then submit a trouble ticket with your forum and server info so we can take a look:

Please start your own support thread. Also note that this is not a problem to be resolved by Jelsoft. It is an issue with your installation.

Why create a new thread, I have the same "excat" same problem.

I would just be is copying and pasting his opening thread, hence creating a duplicated thread.

I am interested to find out what caused this problem, and how it was resolved so that I can fix our forum.

Please start your own thread for your issue. Even though you have an issue that is similar to someone else, each issue is different. You need to create a new thread in the relevant forum for the version of vBulletin that you are running for any issues that you have.

You should also refrain from bumping old threads.
