What are peoples thoughts on it?

I'm not sure if i prefer the notifications down there but the IM bit i'm quite fond of :)

The bit where it displays notifications and users online?

Its at the very bottom of your window not the actual page

The interface is nice, but I hardly think people are going to utilize the IM feature. I don't think instant chat is a desired component in Social Networking sites.

It's very well implemented. It's not intrusive but I think they need a few more privacy options on it :)

Regarding the im thing. Facebook tends to be more for people you know as opposed to Myspace where its as many friends as possible. I have found the IM thing quite good personally =]
