Including a template file into another

Ok, so I'm trying to add in a template file I created under one of my styles. I named it pathway.

I put a bunch of code into the "pathway" template.

Now I went to the Header template and assumed I could include "pathway" template like this:

$pathway

I was wrong lol...

what is the correct method of including a template file into another? Thanks
