Hi folks,

First off, really not a whiz at this, but looked at it tonight and said 'you know, I can do this'. I've done the last few upgrades from 3.5.4 up to 3.6.8 and decided to upgraded to the latest RC tonight.

Everything went just fine, or so I thought. Upgrade went through, no problems with any of that, and then I went ahead and ran the vBadvanced CMPS latest as well to get everything up to snuff and that seemed to go fine as well.

Noticed that my chat box wasn't working so I disabled it, then went to go change my usergroups and came up with a database error. Jumped over here and found that it was one of the plugins (the MGC chatbox, old version wasn't showing up text, just the radio buttons). I deleted that, got rid of the XML and that allowed me to make my changes.

Right, one problem now.

Now, when anyone, including myself, tries to post we get:

The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 1 characters.

I read some more on here, converted a few templates (which made things look like cack, but we'll fix those later) and still no deal so I went ahead and disabled ALL plugins except for vbCMPS. Still no deal.

Ran the Diagnostic and got this:

forum.php File version mismatch: found 3.5.4, expected 3.7.0 Release Candidate 2

vbulletin_quick_comment.js File version mismatch: found 3.7.0 Release Candidate 2 , expected 1.0.0

Was a bit surprised my forum.php wasn't upgraded for some time, and probably explains why my 'most users online' wasn't working for some time, but when I went to go upgrade it, it wasn't in the regular folder as I expected but was in the upload/admincp/. I was a bit hesitant as I figured it would have been in the main folder but I said what the hey, backed up the original file and copied it on over and of course that just crashed the site outright (don't remember the exact, but it was something like error code 31 or something).

I put the original forum.php back in place (3.5.4) and got the site back up, but there is no posting involved right now as I can't get anyone access in there to post. On the safe side I went in and made certain that minimum character limit was set at zero as well (was at 1).

Any help or direction here would be really, really appreciated folks. Use small words and act like your speaking to an idiot, because that's about as close as I get on some of this stuff at times.

Best,
Nathan Caroland

Help .. please ... :D

I hate pulling the idiot and the site is down due to it. Any help would be appreciated.

For the message too short issue, you need to revert your newpost and newreply templates.

For the forum.php mismatch, there is no forum.php in vBulletin. This is because you have a portal installed and renamed index.php. You will need to rename the index.php from vBulletin 3.7.0 RC2 to forum.php and upload it.

The vbulletin_quick_comment.js issue is because you have an outdated version of either the blog or project tools installed and you will need to upgrade them.

For your addons, you need to contact the author of each individual addon for support.
