I've tried to set a forum password but it doesn't do anything..
I have permission to set a password.
In the access option for the forum I've set the password
And "can have password" is set to yes
Any ideas?

Administrators aren't asked for passwords when they enter forums. You would have to test this with a registered user.

Ah so that's the reason.. Well the section I was trying to protect was the special admin chat so it wouldn't make any sense to password protect a forum that can only be accessed by administrators :-P

Utilizing usergroups to secure your forums is the preferred method. Passwords aren't very secure because anyone with the password can view the forum and they are easily shareable. However with usergroup control, you can know who does and who doesn't have access with a quick look at the usergroup members.

Is there a 'timeout' time set in the cookie, or is it a matter of someone having to close their browser and reopen it for a password to be required again to enter a password protected forum?
