Ads on right hand side

Sorry if this isn't the right area, basically I was wondering if anyone knew how I could get an advert to display on the right hand side on a fixed style, the area I mean is shown below.

If it could scroll with the user that'd be good as well but basically I just want to know which area to edit to allow me to place an advert there.
