vBulletin 3.6.9

While primary development efforts are concentrated on the forthcoming vBulletin 3.7.0, many of the fixes and improvements that have been made for the new version have also been back-ported into vBulletin 3.6.x. There are now enough of these changes to warrant a 3.6.9 release.

vBulletin 3.6.9 is (for the time being) our newest 'stable' release version for use on production sites. Any customers running a version of vBulletin 3.6.8 or earlier are advised to upgrade to take advantage of the improved stability of the new version, which includes 159 bug fixes (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/projectsearch.php?do=dosearch&projectid[0]=6&issuestatusid[0]=4&addressedmix[addressedversion][0]=66&sort=lastpost&sortorder=desc).

We anticipate this to be the final release in the 3.6.x series before it is superceded by vBulletin 3.7.0.

Here is a short list of some of the bugs addressed in 3.6.9:

22698 Log out killing entered text (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/project.php?issueid=22698)
23300 Moving posts can breaks Hybrid and Threaded modes (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/project.php?issueid=23300)
23354 Invalid recurrence in calendar causes code error (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/project.php?issueid=23354)
22830 Subscription cancellation can cause incorrect behavior (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/project.php?issueid=22830)
Complete List of Bugs Fixed in 3.6.9 (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/projectsearch.php?do=dosearch&projectid[0]=6&issuestatusid[0]=4&addressedmix[addressedversion][0]=66&sort=lastpost&sortorder=desc)
Changed files and mandatory template changes are listed below in this thread.

Upgrading from Previous Versions

3.6.9 is a maintenance release and we recommend that all customers upgrade to benefit from many bug fixes and stability improvements.

No patch or plugin is available to bring previous versions up to 3.6.9 without a full upgrade, as the various changes to implement all the bug fixes represent a large number of changes. To get the fixes from 3.6.9 onto your own board, you must perform a full upgrade.

Full instructions for upgrading vBulletin are available here. (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/upgrade)

PHP and MySQL Requirements

Please note that vBulletin 3.6.x requires at least PHP 4.3.3 and MySQL 4.0.16 or later.

End of Life for PHP 4

The PHP group has announced the end of life for PHP 4. We strongly recommend that customers update their servers to PHP 5.2.5 if they are still running PHP 4. vBulletin 3.6.9 supports PHP 5 without any problems, though you may need to disable strict mode for MySQL, see here (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/editconfig) on how to enable 'force_sql_mode'.

Note: We will continue to support PHP 4 in the vBulletin 3 series.

Download vBulletin 3.6.9

As usual, vBulletin 3.6.9 is available for all customers with valid, active licenses to download from the vBulletin Members' Area.

Templates with Mandatory Changes Since 3.6.8

A mandatory change indicates that functionality will be explicitly broken if you do not apply this template change. This could be as small as a broken image or as significant as data loss. Always make sure these changes are applied as soon as possible.

Remember, you only need to manually apply changes to templates that you have explicitly customized. Use the "Find Updated Templates" option and cross reference with this list (if you are upgrading from 3.6.8). We recommend reverting your customized templates and recustomizing them to guarantee you have all the necessary changes.

threadadmin_mergethread
threadadmin_mergethreads

Mandatory Change: The merging of a thread from the Thread Tools dropdown is now handled by the same form that handled merging of threads on inline moderation.

Templates with Non-Mandatory Changes Since 3.6.8

Your vBulletin installation will not be broken if you don't apply these changes, but small bugs may be fixed and new functionality may be available by applying these changes. We recommend you apply these changes in the same way that you apply mandatory changes.

help_avatars
Added a conditional around the "showing avatars..." phrase so it's only shown when appropriate (Bug report (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/project.php?issueid=22899))

MEMBERINFO

Added a new variable so the reload link works for users browsing without cookies. Replaced this <a href="$scriptpath"> with this <a href="$reloadurl">. It's not totally necessary to revert for this change, but users browsing without cookies will only get the fixed behavior if the change is made. Everyone else is unaffected.

Cosmetic improvement for RTL styles. (Bug report (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/project.php?issueid=22869)).
