View Full Version : [fixed] Ignore yourself

Seems a bit silly that you can add yourself to your own ignore list :) Shouldnt there be some sort of check (such as the admin and mod one) to stop you from doing that
Not that its a major problem, just a little thing that could use fixing :D

Its not a bug, its just stupid! Not like ignoring yourself makes much of a difference..who sends messages to themselves? :)
Some might so they don't lose some information, but if they want to ignore themselves thats fine :)

The easiest bug fix is to not have any members who are silly enough to add themselves to their ignore list...

He's right.
Adding a user to buddy list can be done by a click (and most of the time I add users by accident), but to ignore someone you have to go all the way to your user cp, ignore list, add the name and submit. You can't accidently add yourself or anyone else.

OK so some people like to mess around with the software and 'ignore' themselves, but either way you look at it, it is still an overlooked bug. It should be fixed.

Actually, once, on a vBulletin, I accidentally added a user to the ignore list and I was going crazy since I could see her posts in quote, but not the post itself.

It's really not a bug.. It's like saying that if I hit all the keys on my keyboard really hard the computer might do something strange.. Well, duh.. Just don't do it!
If you don't like the bug, just go into the code and fix it.. It's not that hard..

Mabye it's a feature that we'd like removed then? :)
Either way it's a few lines of code, and if it's done 'officially' it's one less 'hack' I'd have to worry about as I upgrade.

I think there's a bug in your last post Kier - That "No" really should be a "Yes". Mabye it's got something to do with the formatting...

So stupid people should be considered a bug? Why didn't somebody hit clinton with a flyswatter then? :p

Actually I have changed my mind, seems its not a bug but a well thought out feature, as one of our members pointed out
What are they talking about? Itīs one of the most useful functions on these boards.. Do you think i could stand reading all the useless posts iīve made these last hours

it the small things like this that seperate the good coders from the sloppy ones
any good coder would acknowledge this is a bug and would say they'd fix it in an upcoming release

Guess I am a sloppy coder than.
Also guess I am the only person who thought it was handy to ignore myself to see how the darned thing functions. I didn't realize people would ignore themselves and then not know how to reverse the process.
I will change the functionality do to the overwhelming negative response.

Aww, man, I love this feature! I can't stand the constant post-whoring that I do all the time. :D
Why do you guys get so obsessed about something like this? Is it that hard to find the Ignore list link in the user CP and remove yourself from it?
Actually, if this "bug" gets fixed I'm going to be very unhappy :(
One of the "features" I hated most about UBB was that you couldn't add yourself to your buddy or ignore list!

I can't tell if your trying to be funny or not. There is absouletely no logical reason for someone to:
1. Add themselves to the Ignore list
2. Be able to do that
...
