Ok, I've gone for the secondhand option even though it's not reccommended.

What is the procedure for both him and me to transfer the license?

I have read that, however, as the buyer, what exactly do I do? Just drop an email in stating that I'm the new owner of the license?

The person who you are purchasing the licence from has to contact jelsoft.
