"vBulletin 3.6.8 requires PHP version 4.3.3 or greater. Your PHP is version 4.3.11, please ask your host to upgrade."

After many months of considering trying to do this I have taken the plunge. During the install I get the above error that you see. Trying to get my host to upgrade will probably not happen and definatly not anytime soon. What version of VBulletin can I run that will be best for the v 4.3.11 of the PHP that I have?

The highest you can run on that host is vB 3.5.8.

You would think a Hosting company the size of GoDaddy would have a higher version...... :(

Ahhh, GoDaddy.

This is a problem specific to GoDaddy hosting but it could happen with any host that disables PHP functions.

You need to ask your host to enable the PHP version_compare() function. That is what is causing this error. Also if you are on GoDaddy, make sure they put you on one of their Linux server. Their Windows servers are crippled for PHP and MySQL applications.

From the GoDaddy Support....

use the version_compare() function. If there is anything else that we
may assist you with, please feel free to contact us via email or for a
speedy response, you may call our support line at (480) 505-8877. We are
