I moved my upload file to my server. It is not under the forum

forum www.ecsracing.com/ecsracing (http://www.ecsracing.com/ecsracing)

this has all the folders I am currently using. It also has the updated templates I am using.

upload www.ecsracing.com/upload (http://www.ecsracing.com/upload)

this is where the upgrade sits for 3.6.8 PL2

My question is can I run the upgrade from this location or do I have to move it under the Forum folder.

also can I run it from the upload folder or do I have to over write my current forum stuff. It looks like many of the files are the exact same.

The problem with this is I would lose my custom templates and images which really doesnt make sense to me so that is why I want clarification before I start.

thanks

Bob

You need to overwrite the files on your server with the files from the upgrade package (except the images if you don't want to change them back to default, depending if you're using edited images in the images/* directory). No, it won't erase any of your templates because templates aren't kept in the files, they're kept in the database.

... and no, when you do upgrade, your changes won't be lost. You may get a notice on the ACP home that you have some templates that need updating, but you will have to either revert or manually add in the new changes.

thanks all uploaded and current version. I had to make some custom buttons, but everything seems to be working.

BTW linux is much better and now my forum looks great.
