Navigation buttons top right hand corner

I know i sound green, but i would like to add some nav. buttons to provide links to a number of other pages within my site. i want them to appear in the top right hand corner above the "usercp, register,calendar, etc." buttons. i've created a navigation bar with dreamweaver, now do i just clip and paste the code it created into one of the existing templates, and which one(s) would it be? i've got screws with mouseover effect etc. that i want to use as buttons, so where do i place the image files.?
is there a tutorial for all this somewhere i don't know about?:rolleyes:

You have to put it in the header- I did this in the admin section choosing ---> styles --->modify and edited the headersection. Perhaps you have to add a cell in the table.
