Hi folks. I finally bit the bullet today and prepped my site ready for upgrade, or so I thought. All the correct files are uploaded and in place.
I started through the upgrade process and this went through flawlessly until I got to the "This script will update your vBulletin installation to version 3.5.0 Beta 1" page. I click next and get the following:
Step 1) Miscellaneous table alterations 1/6
Altering session Table (1 of 1) vB_Database_Alter: fetch_table_info() has not been called successfully.
I have done a basic search regarding these sorts of problems already but I am not a major database wiz to be honest and am a little rusty on the php side due to the forums being fairly inactive until recently. I have done a couple of database repair runs through phpmyadmin and expedcted this made no difference.
The PHP version is 4.4.4
The MySQL version is 4.1.22
Sorry for having to ask for help but I just don't have as much time as I used to, to pour in to fixing a site that I run for others as a hobby :(.
Any help gratefully recieved.
Chers,
Nick :).

Errors such as the one that you have received usually mean that all the files have not been uploaded correctly. Reupload the files for the version that you are upgrading to overwriting the files on your server then continue with the upgrade.

Hi there. I have just reuploaded the files from the upload folder (without install.php) again, using flashfxp as the ftp client and I am afraid that I still have the exact same problem.
What's next, unless I am missing something glaringly obvious regarding the files being uploaded?
Thanks.

Do you turn the plug in off before the upgrade ?

Turn which plug in(s) off exactly? To be completely honest I backed up the forum folder, forum database, uploaded the new files completely with new 3.5 onwards version of the config.php and went to upgrade.

reupload the default files again. Chances are one was uploaded badly.

You won't have any plugins since you are coming from 3.0, so don't worry about that comment.
Make sure when you reupload them that if you are given a choice, choose Restart instead of Resume. I have problems sometimes using Resume.
And what do you mean by "new files completely with new 3.5 onwards version". You should have only downloaded the 3.6.8 package, not all the others prior to it.

Sorry, what I meant by that was that the config.php was in the 3.5 onwards format as needed for the upgrade. I have uploaded the 3.6.8 files 3 times now, always overwriting and still no dice. Could this have anything to do with it? - http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=258096
That was the reason why I am trying to upgrade :). Thanks again guy, I appreciate the help.

So, you made it all the way through the 3.0 upgrades and then got stuck at the first upgrade to 3.5, right? I would double-check the config.php file and make sure it is correct. There were a couple of options added for the 3.5/3.6 versions. Maybe make sure you left them as default unless the comments said to change them?

I will double check again now thanks. I am pretty certain that I read them correctly but you never know :).

Sadly I am at a loss now and I have folks rioting about the forums being down. How do I get more help on this, do I have to raise a support ticket?
Thanks in advance,
Nick.

Personally, I'd go ahead and do that. :)

I would do as Onimua suggested and put in a support ticket. Make sure you give them the information to get onto your site and database and hopefully they will get this sorted out for you.
