Fulltext search how long?

I have just turned on my forum full text search but it seems that the search function still does not work.
I want to ask how long does it take for the full text search starts working?

It's immediate after the indexes are created. What is the exact issue?

It does not work. I can not search anything after changing it. The search result is something like "Words not found".

Also have you ensured that each of your forums is set to index posts?

I would like to have some more question about full text search:
-Does database charset get influence on full text search ? My database is charset uft8-general-ci but all of its tables are latin1.
-Does full text search support utf8?

My site language is utf8- charset.

Just want to make an update! I have try to test on a fresh install board:
1. Creat a database charset utf8-general-ci
2.Enable database utf8 connect via config.php
3.Install
4.Change the charset in language file to UTF-8
5. Try posting some threads

(Remember that my search typ is full text search as default.)
And I try searching but the full text search can catch some words and can not with some other. The language I posted on my board is Vietnamese

For example when I search this word "lui tới" the result is




Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.
The following words are either very common, too long, or too short and were not included in your search : lui, tới


But when I search:"quốc phòng" , "nhật bản" ... the search engin can find the word.

I do not know anything but perhaps vbulletin is not "utf8 friendly".
