Hi,

Not sure where to post this as I can't seem to access other forums, but here goes.

We're currently with one host and we are not happy with their service so we are going to move. We're going to buy a new vB license but use the backup from the old server. I've saved this to my PC, how easy is this to upload?

Also, we've got a "protected user" whom we can't edit permissions or details. Can we remove this user before sending across the db to the new server?

Many thanks,
Jake

Many times, you can get your NEW host to do it for you. If you want to do it yourself, here is the doc..

Many thanks for your prompt reply!

As for deleting that user, will it mess up the forum if I just delete her record from the db using MyPHPAdmin?

Shouldn't, as so long as it is NOT her credentials that is specified in the config.php file for vBulletin to connect to the database.

Hey not sure if this is what you meant, but if you already are a vbulletin customer and want to change hosts, you don't need to buy a second license, as long as you have only one running copy of the software and you keep the URL updated in your member zone.

Yeah, its mainliy changing your dns server codes to the hosts codes, once there the same everything should work!
