Does the lease license (1 year) vs. the purchased license software include all of the functionality of the purchased license? In other words, does the software work/look exactly the same for both options?

Yes, it's the same software, just different terms of use.

Same software just I believe in my own opinion it is a better thing to buy than to lease. Than all you have to do is pay yearly for upgrade.

I just want to give it a year right now to see how things work out. The main thread at another forum is the 'starter' forum. The thread (forum) I have planned is an advanced trading forum based on this site: http://www.fxtradeblog.com (http://www.fxtradeblog.com/)

If there is enough participation during this year I won't hesitate to buy the lease. This is just a see how it goes thing for now.

The site is due for a major overhaul.....

It's actually cheaper to buy the Owned License, versus buying a Leased license. If you do the math, $85 + $85 is $170. And you can only upgrade your Leased License to a Owned License within 60 days of your purchase, after which you pay full price ($160). Even if your Forum doesn't turn out successful, you could always start it on something different...

Basically, buying the Owned saves $10, but is really more worth it.

And if you don't like it you can sell the license and get some of the money back :)

Also, with the owned license you don't have to pay never again if you don't want. You have to renew only if you want to upgrade (security fixes are for free if I recall well).

If you do the math, even if you renew for updates every year, owned is cheaper than leased after 3 years (owned: 160+30x2 = 220, leased 85 * 3 = 255). So leased is better only if you are sure your site won't survive 3 years (for instance, a site for the 2008 Olympics).

If you do the math, even if you renew for updates every year, owned is cheaper than leased after 3 years (owned: 160+30x3 = 250, leased 85 * 3 = 255). So leased is better only if you are sure your site won't survive 4 years (for instance, a site for the 2008 Olympics).

Your Math is a bit off 3 years for owned would be 160 + 2x30 for 220 dollars and the leased would be 3x85 for 255 dollars so leased gets more expensive the longer you have the site.

True, you don't need to renew the first year :p You can get the table done right in an older post of mine (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1478782#post1478782).
