Google Indexing Private Forums?

Hi,

I'd like to create a Forum whereby all public threads are easily indexed by Google and other search engines.

However, there will be a number of private forums run by moderators that will manually accept new members into that group.

Is it possible to allow search engines to spider the public forum threads but NOT spider the private forums?

If so, is this an automatic feature or do you have to specify a setting when setting up the private forum?

Spiders will have access to whatever guests have access to, by default.
