Pre-purchase test failure - help, please.

I uploaded the vBulletin test to my website. It passed everywhere except* the MySQL Permission Requirements, which failed entirely. I went into my cPanel and revised the MySQL user privileges to the exact specifications indicated by the test (create, alter, insert, update, select, delete and drop). Yet I still get a failure in this section when I run the test again.

Is the test only good for one run? It makes no sense to me that even with the user privileges revised as indicated, it still fails.

Please advise.




*It also failed the optional magic_quotes_gpc and I couldn't locate the php.ini file to fix it, but I'm not worried not worry about that just yet.

Make sure the username, password and database name are all correct. cPanel will prefix the username and database name with your 8-digit cPanel username as well.

Cpanel did add a prefix, but it was only 4 characters, similar to def_vbtester for the database and def_vbuser for the username. Is that what you meant by prefix?

I did run the test again using those, but it still failed.

If there's an 8-digit (numerical?) prefix, where do I locate that?

So, about that Magic Quotes gpc failure... since it says "optional" do I even need to be concerned with that? I couldn't find any accessible php.ini files via my cPanel to make that alteration.

You don't need to concern yourself with that.. vBulletin will turn it off automatically.

Once you have vBulletin installed, you can request a free EZboard import in the Member's Area.
