View Full Version : PT ignores Additional Usergroups

I have a project tools space which I have made accessible to usergroup "staff". By default the primary usergroup for all users is something else, and staff are assigned to the "staff" usergroup as an "Additional Usergroup" by editing their permissions.

I find the project workspace is accessible if I assign the user's primary usergroup to staff but NOT if they are only assigned to staff group in the Additional Usergroups.

This surely is a bug - it shouldn't matter whether they are assigned in primary or secondary usergroups.

Can anyone else confirm this, or explain what I may be doing wrong?

Thanks

~ Rodney

Can their normal primary usergroup be members of secondary usergroups?

Thanks for your (incredibly speedy!) reply Zachery. Can you clarify what you mean?

The primary group must have 'Allow Users to have Member Groups' to 'Yes'. Otherwise the secondary settings are not applicable.

Thanks Steve, changing that permission fixed the issue.

It seems to me vB could make this a little easier to understand/spot. My suggestion: When editing a user's record, in the "Usergroup options" area, if the primary user group selected does not have "Allow Users to have Member Groups" set (in that group's Usergroup Options) a warning should be displayed, with an option to enable that privilege for the group.
