I'm looking at getting a new host because I received this email from my current host:

we ask that you limit emails to 50 emails every 5 mins or no more than 300 per hour, otherwise emails above this limit will not reach your recipients. You have recently been sending emails above this rate, and hence these have not been sent.Wayne Luke and Steve Machol say this is a low amount (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=252837 ).

The only emails I send out en masse from my host are subscriptions to threads that my users are subscribed to.

Do you how many your host lets you send out?

hi,

I agree with Jelsoft that the limit is quite low i'm afraid you don't have much choice here other then to look for a host that alllows a larger amount of e-mail traffic and they have to tell you that kind of stuff before you purchase anything.Do not be afraid to email a host where you consider to host with if they don't respond in a timely manner then you know enough ...

Yeah, I've been emailing hosts and so far they haven't been willing to disclose their emailing limit.

What is your host's limit?

hi,

I had a dedicated server so that whas not a problem .... If you know howto administrate a dedicated server there are cost friendly solutions out there ;)

If you don't have the knowledge yourself you can hire a so called management company or get a managed server (that's more expensive)

Some hosts do list there limits in there faq and or acceptable use policies

I've been looking at this too. HostGator only allows 200 at a time.

It all depends on the privacy policy of that particular hosting company. Every hosting company has its own privacy policy regarding sending mails as well. You need to make sure with your hosting company before signing up with them.

This is why I run my forum on a dedicated server, even though it could get away with running on a mid shared hosting package.

"Our email monitoring script has reported your account exceeding the email limits of 800 emails per hour" So I am getting 800 per hour on my host but that isn't enough also. Is there a way to delay mails going out?

Ok. What's this for:
"Email Flood Check" under email options in the Vbulletin AdminCP?
Can it help slow down email sending?

If you are using cpanel it also has this option under tweak settings in whm, there is also a setting there to limit outgoing mails per hour.

I sent out 3,200 emails at once to all members and I got no problems with my host. (Servage)
