No se porqué, intento instalar los templates (he verificado varias veces que es la versión 2.0.3), y me dice que "Invalid style file!", o bien me dice:

Puedes solucionarlo subiendo el fichero español.style a la carpeta /admin. Luego haces styles > upload/download > import existing style set from local file, pones español.style en el campo, y a las dos preguntas debajo de ese campo contestas 'no'.

Archivo subido (aunque aparentemente no se nota ningún cambio) Únicamente había que subirlo, ni importarlo ni nada raro, ¿verdad?

Por otra parte (y como sugerencia), se podrían traducir lo que son los textos alt de las imágenes del foro (en perfil me sigue saliendo el texto en inglés, por ejemplo).

Hola, soy mas o menos nuevo en este software, y me gustaría saber si hay alguna posibilidad de usar multiples idiomas, definidos en el perfil del usuario. Es decir, que el usuario al momento de registrarse elija el idioma preferido (de una lista que estaría disponible en los templates subidos) y así cada vez que ingresa, ve todo en su idioma.

Alguien ha hecho esto? será muy dificil?

hay un error de JavaScript en los mensajes privados cuando se va a contestar un mensaje privado. Primero es un "syntax error" cuando la pagina aparece y luego al presionar el boton para enviar es un error de "Object expected" en la linea que contiene

hoy sale la nueva version de vbulletin la 2.2.0. la traduccion en espanol que tienen serviria para esta version????


estoy pensando comprar el vbulletin y tengo un estimado de datos lo unico que falta es encontrar un patrocinador que pague el hosting


segun mis calculos podria tener 40,000 miembros en 4 meses

con un promedio de 100,000 page views diarias ( 3,000,000 pagesvies al mes) con un promedio de 10 page views por usuario

con 400 usuarios simultaneos


y un promedio de 8000 conexiones diarias lo que daria

100,000 pagevies/day x 40kb (tamano de pagina) = 4 gigas diarios de bandwith o 120 gigas al mes pero con el gzip y siendo foros te puro texto daria como 74 gigas al mes de bandwith


la configuracion del equipo seria

un servidor ibm xseries 220 dual processor penitum III 800 mhz con 1 giga ram scsi 19 gigas

gzip abilitado, innoDB, zend optimizer, php acelerator, linux redhat 7.2

hola. si mira los datos que doy son estimados. y estoy basando esos datos en lo siguiente


el dominio donde estara el vbulletin es muy facil de recordar y facil de posicionar en su respectivo mercado.

la segunda variable es que tengo un dominio que actualamente jala 800 conexiones al dia por lo que lo redirigiria al sitio de vbulletin. y cuya condicion de registro seria recomendar 3 personas.

entonoces suponiendo que de esos 800 solo una cuarta parte se inscribiera daria 200 registros en un dia lo cual por la condicion antes dicha serian 200x3= 600 eso en un dia pero resulta que esos 800 son 800x30 dias= 24000 conexiones en un solo mes asi que facilmente podria tener 40.000 usuarios registrados y suponiendo que de esos 40,000 solo una 4 parte se metiera diario a los foros daria 10,000 conexiones por dia y con un promedio de 10 page views por usuario daria 100,000 pageviews diarios.

en cuanto a administradores que se encarguen del sitio pues desde el 94 he estado en una comunidad bbs y facilmente puedo jalar mas de 200 usuarios los que a su vez recomendarian

el mercado meta al que iria dirigido el sitio seria por lo regular jovenes de entre 19 y 35 anios en su mayoria universitarios. los temas de los foros varian segun desde pcs linux. tramites, negocios etc etc

el servidor ya lo tengo solo necesito ver lo del hosting con un patrocinador porque el bandwith seria minimo de 80 gigas mensuales


ya tengo la imagen corporativa hecha. y el mix de mercadotecnia tambien.

el unico temor que tengo es que estos datos que han sido contemplados se incrementen porque entonces seria mucho gasto sobre todo en bandwith ($$) y bueno la comunidad me gustaria que no sobrepasara esos 3,000,000 pageviews al mes

en cuanto a mis estimados son estimados y obviamente no son verificables sino hasta implementar el bulletin sin embargo si tengo elementos suficientes para ponderar dichos resultados
y antes de empezar estoy haciendo mi planeacion estrategica ya que no puedo empezar esto sin estar dando atencion a lo que se podria venir. si no pronosticara esto seria un caos si llegara a pasar

I don't speak Spanish, but I do keep Spanish templates. The upgrade did nothing to my templates. They are still there and intact and work - so far as I can tell.

One thing I have found is the Spanish style you can get here does not have the translations for the FAQ (frequently asked questions) files. Otherwise, they work well.

After I imported espanol.style I was expecting to see a new style, but what I found was that my original templates had been overwrtten.
Part of the problem may be that we have version 2.2 , which is pretty new.

When I first downloaded the Espanol style and tried to upload it my original templates disappeared and my board was in Spanish.

I examined the style file with my editor and found that the file has information in the first part of the file which 'makes or breaks' it.

For example, in my default style, there is:
2.2.1|||Default|||UBB 5 Style|||Default|||28|||43|||

You'll notice the UBB 5 Style - this is because I imported from UltimateBB and wanted to 'keep the look' of the old board.

Now - the Espanol file (again, the first part of the first line in the file):
2.2.1|||Espanol Style|||UBB 5 Style|||Espanol|||28|||453

I have changed this in the attachment I am posting to read:
2.2.1|||Espanol Style|||Default|||Espanol|||28|||453

Now - the first part of the original file I downloaded here and tried to 'upload' (import, however you want to describe it):
2.0.3|||Master vBulletin Style Set!!!master!!!|||None|||None|||43|||452

This said, I searched all over and I will make this comment - there is a lot that the vBulleting folks assume you know or can figure out - it is a complex program. One aspect is that you have an understanding of a lot of things that some folks (me!) don't expect to have to understand. I searched this board for info on this and found nothing (that doesn't mean there isn't a discussion somewhere that I missed, but I'm a search first freak and if there is I missed it). I did not find the structure of the style files explained anywhere. However, I did not go through the 300 (?) page manual completely so I don't know - it may be addressed therein.

The main things I can say is (and I must note I *think* the following is correct) the 2.2.1 (or 2.0.3 or whatever) is the vBulletin version the style file was exported from. The next is the style name (Espanol Style). The next is the 'base' - what the style is based on (for example in my 'default' style you see UBB 5) - this addresses any 'replacement' issues (see your admin control panel). This (I *think* should probably be Default in most cases). The last is the template set (which, as I remember, is 'installed' when you upload the style sheet to your vBulletin board).

Try the espanol.style sheet I attached and see what happens. I'll try to help if I can if you have more problems - but bear in mind - I'm an old geezer who is learning php and MySQL because I want to use the program. My background is not in this stuff. vBulletin has turned out to be far, far more complex than I imagined it would be. Perl and UltimateBB were a 'walk in the parl' comparatively.

Now - file names. I'm uploading this - or will try to - as a text file 'espanol.txt' (the limitations on this board are by extension, not just size) - you will have to change the name to espanol.style

Well, one can choose any style one wants except in the Spanish forums (which I'm really just sorta starting - I don't know whether they will be used very much or not - it was requested by a Spanish person who visits my board). I have the Spanish forums set to NOT allow users to use any style other than the Spanish style. When one enters a Spanish forum they auto-magically get the Spanish style and cannot change it. This is in part because many of my visitors are not real computer savvy so it takes a while to understand all the featured available in the User Options in the User CP. I figure if they go into a Spanish forum, if they can't read Spanish they shouldn't be there any way. English controls won't help.

I will also add that I have yet to address issues of replacement of certain buttons (gif files). That said, it's not as easy as it looks and/or sounds to do a really good job. And it is time consuming.

Turns out these folks here have a very, very small file size limit - as I just found out:
"The file that you have tried to attach is too big. The maximum size is 102400 bytes."

So - just for you ;) with your browser (not ftp) go to http://16949.com/espanol/ and the file will be there for you. Well, I put in my 'default' one as well for the heck of it. They're just plain text files - but - don't forget that after you download them (right click and Save As {or Save Target As} you have to change the names replacing .txt with .style

Remember, I changed the espanol file to read:
2.2.1|||Espanol Style|||Default|||Espanol|||28|
so that it won't look for UBB 5 replacements. Try it. Do let me know if it works.

Also, let me know when you get the file because I want to erase the directory when you're done.

I just wanted to apologize for not getting back to you sooner as I said that I was going to.


The issue is this: We have a pretty customized board, which means that I can't just simply plug-in other people's templates. I would have to manually go and modify all of our customized templates with the translated text. The whole thing seems pretty daunting which is why I have delayed it .

A ver, es posible de que tenga un BB bilingue? En otras palabras, en el 'User CP', si tengo un style en ingles y bajo el otra (este) en Espanol, podrian escojer mis usuarios entre los dos; y asi todo mi sitio seria traducido (except the forums, profiles and posts, or course).

Si en realidad es posible, me espero hasta que salga VB3, ya que creo que vamos a ver muchos cambios. Lo haria yo mismo, pero tengo pesima ortografia (en cuanto acentos) en Espanol. Es milagro que aprobe secundaria :P

Renombra el .style y crea las templates en otro set nuevo, asi podras crear dos idiomas.

En cuanto a si vale la traduccion del 2.2.5 para el 2.2.6 si que vale, al menos a mi no me ha dado problemas, yo instale la 2.2.5 y upgradee a la 2.2.6 luego meti el español y listos.

Os aconsejo el vbutonpro para hacer los botones en español en un momento ya que los que hay por ahi en lila son muy feos.

A ver, es posible de que tenga un BB bilingue? En otras palabras, en el 'User CP', si tengo un style en ingles y bajo el otra (este) en Espanol, podrian escojer mis usuarios entre los dos; y asi todo mi sitio seria traducido (except the forums, profiles and posts, or course).
