Hoping someone can help me with this problem. I have searched this on the internet and found other cases (different versions of vbul) with the same problem, but no solution.

Upon uploading the files to the server, it wont let me upload the following.

vbulletin-adminhelp.xml
vbulletin-language.xml
vbulletin-settings.xml
vbulletin-style.xml

Any pointers would be much appreciated. I'm not new to installing vbulletin, however this time I'm totally lost :(

What are you using to upload those files? I've never heard of this problem before.

Take your pick... Tried flashfxp, filezilla, cuteftp... even gone as far as to try it from my web control panel ... No joy

I really don't know what to tell you other than make sure your FTP client treats xml files as ASCII.

thought the same myself, however have uploaded the full contents of the includes folder which also contains xml files.

Will contact my host and let you's know if I solve the issue with them. Thankyou for your fast responce

soniceffect,

I suggest you try SmartFTP.

This is a strange problem. Have you got any strange named files in the XML directory on the server? I found this caused problems when uploading and an error dropped the connection to server. The way I got around this issue was by deleting the server-side generated files, by logging in via root access and physically deleting them.

A restart of your FTP server maybe required after, but this normally fixes this sort of issue.

I'm assuming you have root access to your server, if not your host would remove the files for you, if they are present.

This could be caused my permission issues on your server (which isn't unheard of and doesn't have to be from what the administrator of the hosting account/server has done). Try submitting a ticket to support at the hosting company to fix permissions. As it seems, it just won't let you do anything (add, remove, change) in that one folder.

This has happened to me enough times.
