I have just noticed that in profiles avatars are smaller than regular avatars.
My question is this: Are these properly php resized thumbs or just simple css?
Thank you

you need to rebuild the avatars in your admin control panel to make them PHP thumbnailed, (unless it's a fresh install)

It was a fresh install. So they are PHP thumbnailed...The reason why I am asking is because on my website I do not use "avatars". I have a hack installed that automatically generates avatar from a profile picture when latter is uploaded.
I am not really big fan of hacks and modifications so what I was thinking is substituting profile picture with regular avatar in memberinfo template. Increasing avatar size to a larger size so that it looks like a profile picture, while avatars for friends and visitor messages will still be thumbnailed avatars. And then substituting regular avatars with thumbnailed avatars in postbit and memberinfo templates.
Do you think this would work? Or I have misunderstood something.

Also another thing I have noticed. When avatars are stored in the filesystem it looks like that the smaller thumbnail is generated by css. Both avatars in ministats/visitor messages and postbit have the same size/url. When avatars are stored in the database, only that's when &type=thumb adds to url of a smaller avatar.

Please be aware that you're running beta software and our bumping policy is to wait at least 24 hours.

Admin defined avatars need to be rebuilt in your Admin Control Panel. If they are in the Filesystem, then you need to make sure the permissions on the thumbnails folder is correct for them to work on upload
