I don't see how you can get that error on a fresh install to blank database. I would start over again and clear out the existing db tables.

Yes, if you limit this to a few and password protect it.

HI.

What do you mean about "password protect it" ?
you mean trust able friends that can save there login details and will not share any where away ??

Thanks

From the License Agreement (http://www.vbulletin.com/order/license_agreement.php):

If you have a valid licence, you may set up an additional test forum in order to test code, template and database modifications. To make this clear to us and our licence verification procedures, place it in a directory called 'testvb' and be sure to password protect it. It must not be accessible by the general public.

Password protection with .htaccess:

I suggest that you set up a .htaccess and a .htpassword protected to your test board.

if you have cpanel on your hosting you can use a function in there to password protect folders.

As per our license agreement, you have 1 instance per license. You have permission to run a PRIVATE and TEMPORARY test setup.

If we check a license and we find 2 or more instances that are not compliant with our license agreement you run the risk of having the license revoked.

No, you can't have your test site set up as a live forum, so put it behind .htaccess and in the testvb/ directory. And limit access to just a handful of people to help you 'test' this instance.

Yes, that URL is open to the public. It just shows index.php isn't there, and followed by a forbidden.

Hell.

I did this option

Allow only certain users from certain ISPs to access:

<Limit GET>
order deny,allow
deny from all
allow from your.isp.net
</Limit>

and even i cant access by proxies , i tried.
but you told its still open and you can enter.

That would make it private yes, perfect. You can add the IP of your buddies.
