View Full Version : Issues with ImpEx - Blank screen?

I am having a problem importing the users.
I only have 508 registered users.
When I do the user import,
I put these values:
Users to import: 510
Email associated: No
Import Avatars: No
Path to Avatars: blank
--
Now after clicking continue I get a screen with nothing on it.
I waited for 10 minutes and it did nothing. My process bar said "done".
Here is that screen shot: http://www.michigandsm.com/temp/1.jpg (https://www.vbulletin.com/link.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.michigandsm.com%2Ftemp %2F1.jpg)
Now after sitting and looking at that screen for 10 minutes, I click "Import" on the left, and then this screen flashes for a couple seconds: http://www.michigandsm.com/temp/2.jpg (https://www.vbulletin.com/link.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.michigandsm.com%2Ftemp %2F2.jpg)
Then it just takes me back to the module import list with the buttons.
Everything has been imported except Users / Threads / Posts .
For all of those I keep getting the dead screen as shown and stated above. Please help, my forum is down right now.
Also, when I click "Database Clean up and restart"
I get this message:
ImpEx Database errormysql error: Link-ID == false, connect failed
mysql error:
mysql error number: 0
Date: Friday 14th of December 2007 01:23:40 PM
Database: midsm_com_-_vb

What source system ?
With the cleanup and restart that is because you don't have the target details in ImpExConfig.
Lower your user per page to 100.

Great that worked...
But nothing is showing up on the forum? It is just raw.
Edit: source is phpbb2.0.21

So you're saying if I delete the impex dir from my site, my forums/members/posts will show up?

No, you have to follow ALL of those instructions. :)

Ok the very first thing that is said when I click that link:
Remove the ImpEx files
Once you have finished and completed an import and your site is up and running, delete all the ImpEx files, this will ensure that if you do another import in the future you will get the latest version, as you will have to download ImpEx again.
Now that would make me assume that I need to do that first?
Also, when I goto the cleaner.php, nothing but a blank page opens, with text that
says "Not Active".

Ok.... So like I said, my forum is NOT up and running. Absolutely nothing imported on to the forum, but in the impex system in admin control it shows that everything was imported. My forum shows the exact way it did when I created it.
So why would I be looking at that link that says
Once you have finished and completed an import and your site is up and running, delete all the ImpEx files
When the thing didn't work?
EDIT: I don't know where your reply went, but I am replying to that.

Did you follow ALL of the instructions, including updating the counters?

I followed ALL of the instructions as best as I could. I've been screwing around with this freakin thing for 6 hours now, and its getting a little old.
I am amazed that something which cost me $85 can be this difficult, when the php forum was free and took a total of 30 mins to incorporate. I am just extremely agitated at this point.

Hmmm...it's not that hard.

And exactly what steps have you taken ?
I've been screwing around with this freakin thing for 6 hours now, and its getting a little old.
A 6 hour import would be about 2.5-3 million posts.

An install of a product is very different from doing an import then stepping though a few steps, i.e. updating the threads counter, forum counters then saving the forum display.

Obviously not the right steps, as it is not working.
I did not say I have been doing a 6 hour import. I meant I have been screwing around with the total install/import for 6 hours.
...
My issue now is
ImpEx Database errormysql error: Link-ID == false, connect failed
mysql error:
mysql error number: 0

You said "targat details" in the config file, well I looked and they all look just peachy. So I don't understand what else could be wrong./

I already did that. I filed for help at 1 pm. I was getting help until 2 pm (which equaled 3 messages) and from then on, nobody would answer my questions or help. So I guess I need to wait until 1 pm tomorrow and hopefully get those 3 answers again?

Given you posted here two hours and and it took me 46 mins to reply.

What action are you trying to take when it gives you that error ?

I got everything to show up using the "update counters" options. Everything is showing up now, except the member list. All of the members are showing on threads and such, and if you click a name, it takes you to their profile. However, when you click on the member list, only 1 name shows up (mine).

Which is what the instructions said and I said to do in my previous post. :)
Everything is showing up now, except the member list.
There are two options you need to check to set whether or not members are viewable on memberlist:
1. By usergroup:
Admin CP -> Usergroups -> Usergroup Manager -> Edit -> Usergroup Options -> Viewable on the Memberlist -> Yes
2. By post count:
Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> User Listing & Profile Viewing -> Minimum Posts
