hello,

i have imported my board from phpbb to vbulletin a couple of days but i left the normal board running while i work on vbulletin, the problem is that there is new threads, posts and members... is it possible to import all the new threads, posts and members while still keeping the current import? like update it?

if this is possible how can i do it?

thanks

No, it are per sessions, it doesn't recognize which threads/posts/users/pm/etc are new

yes. the latest import will have the latest data.

We recommend people to close their old site after installing vb & impex, and then run impex.

Yes as it says in the manual there are no differential imports. Install vBulletin and set it up as you want and take a backup, you can import as many times as you like to test, though for the final you'll have to revert to that back up and do a final import.

i have just done a clean import (cleared the old one) everything seemed to be fine until i have noticed some members username has imported_ infront of it and there is a lot of double posts (same content posted twice once in a new thread then a second time as a reply in that thread) how can i fix this?

thanks

to fix the user problem - you can merge the two users into one account providing they are the same.

that would take so long when there is thousands of members i have to merge, isn't there a quicker way to do it?

thanks

You claimed to have done a clean import, the only way that you'd have duplicate user names is if you have duplicates in the source.

Sounds like you are trying to reimport the source board without clearing out the old import.

sorted it, now just have one problem... no members show up on the usergroups so i can't move them to a new usergroup like "registered" instead of "imported users" because none show up in the first place? any ideas why this is? i have tried updating counters, etc...

thanks

ok, i Think i fixed the above problem... but now i have been flooded with emails (over 50 in an hour) with people saying they are banned... i searched and what you said before i have done that, nothing worked.

any ideas?

thanks

That means you did not follow the 'After the Import' instructions here:

http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/impex_cleanup

i followed all that, still the same... none of the users are showing up in the registered members usergroup (i have deleted the imported group) but they are showing up on the site...

any ideas?

Hmmm...I don't see how that can be. When you delete the imported groups, those users go into the Registered group. If they did not go there, then what group are they in?

Also did you check the usergroup permissions as per those instructions?

i have checked the permissions for all groups, its just strange how the members won't show up in the usergroup manager? example:

Did you update all the counters and follow those instructions?
