Merging forums with similar usernames...

Thanks in advance for the help here.

We are looking at bringing in another forum that contains the same subject matter that we do. I know that we would use IMPEX to do this, however most of the users on that forum are also members on ours and many of them have the same username. During the merge how would this work if the same username is found on our system as well as theirs?

Impex can auto merge account is the name and email address are equal. This is an option you have to select when you click the module 'import users'. If it can't impex-merge the user it will import it with a prefix like imported_ .. vBulletin comes with a default feature that you can use to merge a user account. So if it failed to merge and afterwards you end up with 2x a 'Steve' (steve & imported_steve) you can use this option to manually merge that user.

ImpEx will merge on the email addresses (if told), though will prepend the "imported_" to any usernames it finds that are the same.
