View Full Version : Problem importing users

When importing the users, everything seemed to be alright, minus the minor problem that avatars would not go for some reason. However, it seems that users have been overlapped into other users account.

For instance, when UserJoe logs in, it shows them (and all of their posts) as UserBob. When UserBob logs in, it shows them (and all of their posts) as UserSteve.

I'm no vB pro. I have no idea why it would do this, or how I could fix it. I imported from phpBB3, if that is needed.

Honestly I do not see how that can happen. Have you verified this problem yourself? If so, I suggest clearing out the imported data and redoing the import from scratch.

Apologies, I was in a rush when I posted initially.

Was a clean board, with only my default admin account. Now, it has some info on it due to the error. (Note: completely reinstalling vB wouldn't be a horrible inconvenience, if absolutely necessary. Whatever works to resolve things.)

Source board is phpBB3 RC7.

Target board is vB 3.6.8 patch level 2

Unsure which module would be at fault, though I presume module 002... my vB admin name is the same as my name on the imported forums, which may be conflicting with the user order

No SQL errors

I really don't know how or why this would happen, and I do not have the knowledge to figure it out. I tried reimporting, and it did not solve the problem. As I touched on above, I believe maybe it has something to do with my vB admin name being the same name as one of the imported users... I don't know how to offset that, or merge them upon import (merging after import yields no results toward the initial problem.)

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Re-install vBulletin, then take a back up of the database so when testing if anything happens or you want to test the import again, you can just revert to that backup by restoring the database you've backed up pre import.

For a clean import ignore the associate module (002).

The imported user wouldn't be merged with the admin in the vBulletin board as ImpEx stops admins being associated with because that can lead to them being deleted. Though they should just be imported as "Imported_<username>".

I had to reinstall two more times, but it finally worked. I don't know why it did it in the first place, but so long as it's fixed, I don't care. Thanks much for the help.

*Edit: One last problem I am having -- BB code is not parsed in imported posts. The code is correct (not html), so according to the documentation the tools file isn't needed... I have updated all counters... I have checked all permissions for forums, usergroups, and users...

If I manually click Edit in a post, then simply post (without even altering anything) the code becomes parsed. I really don't want to do that for everything though... Did I miss something after conversion? Or if this is more common than I had realized, is there an SQL query I can run or something?
