Where do you begin to troubleshoot a "crashing" problem with mysql?

I'm not sure where to look, but intermittently, mysql either crashes or stops working
The only time I know when something is wrong is when I start getting emails about it being down

Is there a paticular log file I need to check to find out what happened?

looks like you have innodb trying to start - mysql doesn't use innodb tables by default.. it uses myisam tables... so you can disable innodb by adding skip-innod to under [mysqld] group in /etc/my.cnf and restart mysql server

Seems you might have innodb tables in place.. did you convert any mysql database tables from default MYISAM table format to Innodb ??

This means you need to optimize your MySQL/Apache configuration, and if you have already done so than you should really consider upgrading your package or adding more memory.
