Sorry if this is not the right forum, but I wasn't sure where this goes, and it said discuss anything you want, so here goes.
I have a site powered by Simple Machines. www.CarolinaSkiffOwner.com (http://www.CarolinaSkiffOwner.com)
I was wondering how hard it would be, or if it is possible, to transfer it and make it a VB powered site?
I only have 375 members as of now, but it is growing pretty good and If I make the swicth I would rather do it sooner than later.
Could this be done without losing any info on my site & what all is involved?
Thanks in advance
and sorry if this is the wrong forum for the question.

No problem. ;)
See http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/ Appendix 5 'ImpEx Import System' for further information. :)

I'm still a little nervous about making the swicth from my SMF to a VB board and don't need and down time or to lose data.
www.CarolinaSkiffOwner.com (http://www.CarolinaSkiffOwner.com)
Has anyone else made the jump from SMF or another source to VB ?
I'm not a very good with HTML or too much of the setting up of sites. I can maintain and run it, but am limited with experience.
We just gained a #1 Google ranking for our site and are at the top of the lists as a message board for these types of boats. Only under the boat manufacture itself.
I had a buddy set up my current site, but he is unavailable to help with this transition, if I pursue it.
I REALLY love the VB set up and have used it in the past. Really different since I've last been here too. A lot more to get caught up on.
Thanks for any help.
PS
I'm currently running version SMF 1.1.2 I notice in the VB manual on this it says "PHP 4.3.3 or higher are required to run ImpEx." I'm assuming it means for VB not the 1.1.2 SMF ? Is this correct.
If I purchase the VB license it would be the lastest great, most up to date version ??

Once you purchase, you'll have access to the latest stable version (3.6.8) and latest release. (3.7 Beta 4)
Your SMF version number is not related to your PHP version. If you're running SMF, you most likely have the latest version of PHP.
From what I've heard, ImpEx is very simple to use. No coding knowledge is needed. The manual is step-by-step.
Also, once you complete the transition, your members will need to reset their passwords. Just post an announcement, notification, etc. :)
