Ok I am being hosted by someone I know who has a server I guess you call it. Well I have had errors off and on ever since, and he hasn't ever explained why or what I can do to prevent them.
Latest was today which said something like server not responding trouble connecting to mysql etc etc.
Can anyone help me?
Should I switch hosting/server company or what ever it is called?
problem is he isn't charging me lol So I can't complain. He is a good guy.
It is working now of course, but I do not know when and why it will do it again.

Yeah, if you are consistently having problems with your current host.. your should then switch hosts.

Even though he's a friend, on a professional level if you need a bigger hosting solution from a more steady host that should not effect your friendship. You are not telling him "i dont want to be your friend anymore"
Based on what you need now you could look into theplanet.com, steadfast.net or softlayer.com or any of these hosting companies.

Ah, an error. Now we have something to work with. yes, that's a hosting issue. The error says vb can't connect to the database. So the database might be unreachable. It could be down, crashed, restarting. etc. We can't know - the host has to look at the log files.
