host/domain question

I plan on starting my vbulletin site this week. After researching hosts, I think I am going with hostgator. They seem to have good support (which I need) and a good service for the $.

I have not registered my domain yet- I thought I might register it with them as well, but wanted to make sure there were no downsides to having your host and domain at the same place. thoughts? and has anyone had problems with hostagtor as a domain registrar? reading the fine print on their terms makes me think there will be pop-ups everywhere (which I do not want), but maybe I am reading it wrong.

Well.

I personally would not register my domain at the same web host my site is hosted on. For one, if your host goes down.. You rather lose one then both. If for any reason your hosting company is going out of business, then your domain can be lost or given away. I normally host my domains at companies that specialize in selling domains.

I would personally recommend www.namecheap.com.
