I want to have a Homepage with about 5 extra pages one of which will be my forum..
Im uk based and completely thick with all of this..I just want a mesageboard really

I recommend hosting and other services from http://www.envescent.net

They maintain the latest version of php & sql running in their hosting packages, unlike many other hosts (this is a good choice since php/sql versions are important to your vbulletin/messageboard software, and also future upgrades. Also, their prices are slightly better than average. I've been using their hosting for about 2 years now and never had any problems with them. They have very responsive customer service, too.

also what kind of bandwith will I need I know I need a SQL database but is there anything else I need to get by forum hosted properly?

Well if its just a website of 6 pages it would be better to start up with a small shared hosting package and upgrade as per your requirements.
