Different Look for Blogs ???

I'd like to have a completely different look for the blog system, is this possible? Perhaps using a different template?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Right now you would do this by editing the Blog Templates directly.

But will it create problems later on when I update version?

Possibly, depending on what changes are made to newer versions. That is the same if you edit any template. Some templates will change as new versions are released.
