I'm new to vBulletin and am trying to decide if I should use a subdomain for my user forum.
I've looked through the posts and seen people moving their forums in both directions - root to sub and sub to root.
Although, judging from the posts, using vBulletin with a subdomain seems to create some problems.
Can anyone give me some sage advice as to which direction I should go with this?
Thanks!

why would vBulletin on a subdomain create problems ? i used to have forums.myserver.com for years. It all depends on a decent dns configuration and dynamic dns.You can check if you have dynamic dns enabled by
http://whatever.yourdomain.com ==> if this points to your website and not a dns error page you have dynamic dns support enabled.
if not you need to ask your host to activate this most of them will do this
What direction you'd go is kind of a personal choice if you have a "frontpage" i would pick forums.yourdomain.com

why would vBulletin on a subdomain create problems ?This is my first time working with forum software, so I really don't have an answer to that.
However, many of the posts I read mentioned issues with broken images and some sort of path problems when using a subdomain for a forum.
I'm hoping that this post will encourage some people to tell me what their personal choice was and why (or why not) they were happy with that decision.
Thank you,
