You are running an older unsecure version of vB with add-ons. I strongly recommend that you upgrade to 3.6.8 immediately.

P.S. Please see this thread on how to make your vBulletin more secure:

That specific message is most likely from a modified template or vB file.

So you're saying I have to ditch my entire customized forum now for a plain vanilla version?
:(
The thing is, this exact forum runs fine on another server -- :(

What do you mean 'exact same forum'? That's a different URL.

it's a different URL, but i changed servers, moving all the files and the db over to the new server --
-- so it's basically the same forum -- though it won't work at all -- :(

Revert your showthread template. But you really need to upgrade to the latest version.

thank you for this, though it didn't work -- :(
i realize i have to upgrade my forum, but after a botched upgrade attempt that shut my forum down for two days a year ago, i am just trying to get this one up and stable before i go upgrading it.

Then it is either a file modification, outside redirect or they modified the parsed version of the template directly. Do a rebuild of your styles by going to:
http://yourdomain.com/forums/admincp/template.php?do=rebuild

i did this -- it rebuilt something (sorry, this isn't my gig), and went to the styles page, and still doesn't work -- :(

the gatorhost team is working on finding the files that are giving it an error -- hopefully that will be the first step.

To troubleshoot this, first reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run 'Suspect File Versions' in Diagnostics to make sure you have all the original files for your version and that none show 'File does not contain expected contents':
Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions
[Note: In some cases you may also need to remove any of the listed .xml files in the includes/xml directory.]
Next, disable all plugins.
Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php
define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);
Then if you still have this problem, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it. Do you have the same problem?

thank you for this -- we compared files, and got it to work.
all i can say, too, is that hostgator is a wonderful service -- their techs are amazing.
