Hi,
I have a problem when transfering a forum (vB) to a new server (VPS).
I've exported and imported the database, downloaded and uploaded the files of the original board (edited the config file of course).
I can view the board, yet when I login, I just get redirected to the main page again.
When I upload the original vB files to an other directory, I can view the install.php, but I cannot get past the page where I need to enter the license number. The page just reloads (again).
Any idea's on this one?

Not sure I understand. Please try explaining again.
Also do not run install.php unless you want to wipe out your forums and start all ovver.

Hi,
I'll give it an other go.
Old host, shared hosting plan.
Made a backup of the database and files.
New host, VPS.
Imported the backup into an MySQL database, and reuploaded the files.
Edited the config.php to the correct new values.
When you go to the URL of the forum (www.domain.ext) and enter the username and password, the page reloads and shows the same page again.
When you try to login into the ACP, the page also just reloads again.
When I tried to create an alternative test installation, the page reloads (again) after entering the costumer number.

This is probably a cookie domain/path issue. To fix this, upload the tools.php script in the 'do_not_upload' folder of the vB zip file to your Admin CP directory and run it from your browser. Use this to reset the cookie domain and path back to the defaults. And then leave your cookie domain and path at the default settings. There is no reason to change these. If you need to specify a unique cookie, use the cookie prefix setting in config.php instead.

Hi,
When I enter my code, the page just refreshes again.
Bad configuration?

What do you mean 'when I enter my code'?

Customer Number.

This means you are either not using the correct custome number, you are blocking cookes, or you are not using the correct tools.php file for your license.

I'm currently handling this in a ticket, I believe there is a server configration issue at this point.

Hi,
The support team said they would speak to other staff members to see if they had any other idea's.
If anyone else has an idea in the meanwhile, I'd be happy to hear them.

The issue was resolved, the host had set a vastly too large post_max_size.
