Photoblogs are blogs where the user only posts one image and that's the blog entry. I'd like to see the blog support that, instead showing thumbnails of images.

Some seem to be against the idea of having such features added. The big mistake was calling the product a blog and now you get a very small group stomping on any new ideas to merge addons that would of been seperate sold.

I like your idea, but rather have one large and several small images, as it can be still the same subject in a different view or have something like 'lightbox' 'thickbox'

I still think the name 'Blog' should be removed from products name though.

You can already insert image to your blog entry multiple ways.

I know Dream and know that you can add images, as I have tested this blog on vBulletin. I think I will wait to see if option for Administrative control over all 'Categories' and 'Sub-category' types will be an release very soon. You can not know which member would have an image, video, music gallery until you visit users blog entry. A category list that is seperate from text area for each.

Thanks for the link Wayne, but then you had to give a link for members to know that you have an image... I hope you see what I mean, in that noboby would know until you provided a link.

If you go to my blog, then you will see the image directly on the page. I only provided a link to show it can be done. Basically any BBCode that you can put into your forum posts, you can do in a blog entry.

Yes, but then how would I have know prior to visiting your blogs main list that you have an image gallery or any type of media gallery. I would have to visit everyone main blog and go see what is listed and then I would need to subscribe so I do not forget you have some type of media I would like to discuss about.

What I have mention in other post and what Dream wants is basically the same... vBa_Dyn type script that you can make sections completely seperate from personel blogging area. The categories do just that, but you never know if another member has a media gallery until you visit their main blog page.

What you want is a group blog.. It is possibly coming in the future. I read Dream's suggestion in this thread as something completely different. You want the blog to be something that isn't currently planned. The Blog is not a catch-all application. It is designed to provide the functionality of a software package like Wordpress MU, which it does quite successfully. Even with Wordpress, a lot of the things asked for in this forum are addons and plugins.

That doesn't look good in Firefox, half the image is outside the article area.

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and or lightbox/thickbox can easily fix that, but you would never know if a member has a media gallery of any sort until you poke around in each members blog page.

It is probably dependant on your screen resolutions.

How would you know any site had any content at if you didn't poke around? Though Social Networking will help with that issue a lot I would assume.

What does 'Social Network' look like... is it like http://stage6.divx.com/user/ironspace or something alot smaller. I rather have any area for media gallery and you can easily see who has one made. Adminstrator control over categories or something like vBa_Dyn.

It is not screen resolution... well it is an its not, as fixed width styles will show image floating just outside.

Will Group Blog be segregated and are first entries editable or will you be able to have seperate templates for what you display.
Multiple Media template or is it base off same template for all.

'The Blog is not a catch-all application'
It should be a multi use by now, as the blog is decades old. Using the blog for just personel chitchat is the thing of the past and not beening able to choose a layout for different media is a better use of this script.

Making mutiple scripts is still a wasteful resource in my view, you would not want to go back using the first ever vBulletin and have all the bells and whistles as just addons right.

I think it would be nice to have a "view all images in my blog" option and a way to put a caption to the images. Very helpful if your into photography, art and such.

There is quite a bit that I would like to see separated out and available strictly as addons... Calendar, Private Messaging, Infractions, Reputation. Not necessarily paid addons but stuff that can be removed from the code if you don't need it at all. This isn't really about my personal desires though but what makes the application marketable to the masses. Same with the Blog. Some suggestions will be added, some might not be. Its all a compromise. Whether they add more functionality for photoblogs all depends on the future. As far as group blogs, I don't know what functionality is planned and if I did I wouldn't be able to disclose it.

I guess I should think as this beening simular to how vBulletin core script was first made, then has grown beyond it first basic functions... well basic as it relates to now. Your right about those you mentioned, as I only use 'Calendar' and those others tend to cause friction with some users. I would of have 'Shout Box' added for quick talks with other moderators or have a discussion with problematic user.
If members wish to talk in private, then they would just use email and or instant message service.

I will see what the next two major version and then I could see if it is worth it on my part to invest in.
