MY forum users are begging for a good chat room. We used to have that Chathack.php one that used HearMe - but it don't work anymore.

I'm not looking to have it integrated into vBulletin. I just want a free sweet php or cgi chat. And be able to customize its layout so it fits into my site good.

Anyone recommend any?

I use the Multicity chat which works fine with vB and Who's Online. Check these threads for more info:

Why not just make a chat room on AIM, and have a link to it from your forums?

Huh???? No one uses AIM? AOL Instant Messenger? There are whole companies out there that use and rely on AIM to conduct internal business. My roommate worked all day from home today as did 23 of his co-workers, and they all used AIM to stay in touch. He had 23 AIM windows open trying to coordinate major server upgrades.

"Redundant product thats getting discontinued/unsupported." I'm curious, what's the basis of that point? I'd like to see the documentation to support such a claim.

AIM sucks, plain and simple. It's ugly and worthless. MSN is better, but I rather have my own chat.

Fred,

Opinions are like pennies, everyone has at least one. I didn't say AIM is the way to go for a chat room.

What I am arguing are the two points that nobody uses AIM and it's unsupported and getting discontinued. If you're going to speak for a company, then at least provide some factual literature to back up such claims.

I use AIM everyday and it is VERY useful... the only thing it's lacking is the 'history' feature that ICQ has.

One reason I don't like AIM is because no one on my forums use it. It's either MSN or ICQ. A couple use AIM, but not many people like it.

I found a chat the other day. Thanks guys!
